March 1, 2011 Board Meeting Agenda Item #13 Title APPROVAL OF LICENSE AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE SCHOOL BOARD OF SARASOTA COUNTY AND FLORIDA POWER AND LIGHT (FPL) AUTHORIZING FLORIDA POWER AND LIGHT TO CONDUCT SOLAR FEASIBILITY STUDIES AT SELECT SITES Description This License agreement authorizes Florida Power and Light to conduct solar power feasibility studies at select sites across the district.  The purpose of the study is to determine which roof structures would be adequate for Florida Power and Light to install and operate a solar array placed on the roof structure of buildings across the district.  The operation of this solar array would generate revenue for the district in the form of lease payments from Florida Power and Light.  This License agreement only authorizes FPL to conduct the feasibility study.  Lease agreement would be entered into at a later date. Recommendation That the Board approve the solar study license agreement between the School Board of Sarasota County and Florida Power and Light as presented.
